Breast cancer affects one in eight women at some point in her life. This makes breast cancer a serious health risk for every woman. Breast cancer clinical trials are increasing treatment options and our knowledge of the disease, leading to more effective breast cancer medications and other therapies. 

Causes of Breast Cancer

The causes of breast cancer vary from woman to woman. Age certainly plays an important role: seventy-seven percent of new breast cancer diagnoses are made after the age of fifty. Hormones also play a role: some breast cancer medications work by countering estrogen levels.
